Hyundai Hockey Nation

Event Highlights

Montreal

The Hyundai Hockey Nation Tour completed its second of nine stops between February 8 and 10th in Montreal this past weekend. The festivities kicked off with the Coaches Symposium on Friday night led by Tour Head Coach Ron Davidson, Tour Celebrity Coach Mike Keenan, and Dryland Trainer David Arsenault, President of Athletic Community Centres and owner of Painstation. Coaches listened intently to the presentations about coaching techniques, best practices, long-term athlete development, and good old fashion hockey stories.

The player clinics took place on February 9th and 10th at the Sportsplex 4 Glaces in Pierrefonds, where 480 kids were able to participate in on-ice sessions led by Ron Davidson and Mike Keenan. The dryland portion of the clinic, run by members of David Arsenault’s Painstation, featured many agility-testing and basic movement drills. Participants were also surprised and delighted with the opportunity to be on the ice with three-time Olympic Gold Medalist and five-time World Champion, Jennifer Botterill. After participants had the opportunity to take a picture with Jennifer’s Gold Medal from the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, they made their way over to the photo station where they could then take their picture with a Ron MacLean and Don Cherry cut out!

The Hyundai Hockey Nation team would like to thank Sportsplex 4 Glaces, Ron Davidson, Mike Keenan, Jennifer Botterill, the Pierrefonds Minor Hockey Association, and all of their wonderful volunteers.

Next up for Hyundai Hockey Nation is a new addition to the tour line up – Quebec City! Limited spots are still available so if you and your future hockey star are in the area, make sure to sign up online!
